If you think that learning English is hard even making you give up on your learning, you are at a right place. It is completely fine to feel exhausted because I am pretty sure
about a lot of people face this challange too, just like you.
I have a long story about learning English. Throughout my life, I have experienced various events that have helped me become more familiar with myself and others as an individual.
One such event occurred when I was in fifth grade. During an English test, my teacher asked us to write down the names of ten colors we had just learned, but I forgot two of them.
I couldn't help but feel inadequate compared to my friends who seemed to be effortlessly good at English. This experience made me doubt my abilities, and it was a turning point for me
in terms of self-reflection and personal growth.
In the winter of my seventh grade year, I stumbled upon a Facebook post advertising a free English club called the "Big Family English club." Although I was interested in attending,
I was too scared to go alone. I asked two of my best friends to come with me, and after the first introductory class, I completely admired the teacher's passion for giving an opportunity to
those who couldn't afford private English lessons. That snowy, -27°C winter day marked the beginning of my journey into the art of learning English.
Initially, the English club was a challenging environment for me, as I was the only seventh-grader in the classroom full of juniors. It took me a while to keep pace with the other students,
even though I was writing as fast as I could. Eventually, my friends stopped coming with me, leaving me alone to navigate my way through the community. I made a conscious effort to befriend
my teacher, learning every lesson he taught and seeking his guidance to improve my English skills. We even had a class during winter break that ran from 8 am to 10 pm, sitting in a cold room
where we could see our breath.
Despite the challenges I faced, I persevered and found the motivation to continue. There were times when I was scared of the long, complicated words or would tilt off to sleep in the morning classes.
However, I would remind myself that if I learned this now, I could reach my dream in the future. And with the effort of my three years of active learning, I applied to FLEX, a fully-funded exchange
program for high school students for one year.
These three years I felt like I am lost in the ocean, not knowing where am I going, even sometimes not sure about what am I doing. But long time effort, following my teacher's direction, I finally achieved one of my childhood dream.
